Life on the Farm!!

Here are some photos of the farm we live on. I like to act like I know all about farming..but I don't. We are a row crop farm. We have cows, but the only thing I have to do with them is to cash the check when they sell. Sometimes I think we should eat one...but my husband gets attached to easily. Easier to sell them and have someone else eat them than have little blackie sitting in our freezer. We have 1 horse. I never see her. My daughter used to ride her in 4H but grew out of that stage in life. The horses' name is Ellie and she is kind of like me..she wonders around on a grassy hill all day eating and pooping. We have no pigs. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats (you will see glimpses of them in my lovely professional photos :) . We had a gerbil but I killed in (on accident). I tried to revive him but their mouths are so tiny. I have killed numerous goldfish (also accidental). Usually by forgetting to take them out of my pond before winter. I would never wish an animal to live at my house. I ran over our cat in the garage several years ago.

Across the road, corn and wheat. The corn is so tall now I can't see out...don't like that feeling!

That NASTY word...CANCER!!!

In August of 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy, radiation, no chemo (thanks to the ONCO DX test) and then started on Tamoxifen in January of 2009.  Just curious if anyone is taking tamoxifen and if so how is your body handling it.  I made the choice to stop taking it a couple months ago at about 3 1/2 years into it.  I have gained a lot of weight, I hurt everywhere and other complications I won't bore you with :)  My symptoms didn't get too bad until about 3 years in.  Would love to hear any thoughts you would share with me....

My BIG FAT Midlife Crisis!!

I am a wife, mom, grandma (yaya), daughter, sister and friend. I work (OK, live) with my husband on a row crop farm where we farm about 1000 acres of sugar beets, wheat, onions, hay and corn.   I love my family most of the time. I laugh too much...mostly at things I shouldn't. My mouth gets me in trouble a lot. I have a slightly strange sense of humor. I have had a son go to prison.  I have had cancer. I am married to someone almost as weird as I am. My kids are crazy.  My grand kids are amazing. My mouth gets me in trouble a lot, not on purpose. I ask too many questions and get too many answers.  My passion is music.  I sing (in public) in group called Spontaneous. I worked at a salon for years.  I love playing with hair and makeup.  I am writing a book. I have gained weight. I have a few whiskers. I am 48..my birthday is SEPTEMBER 11!! I love God and He loves me in spite of my "issues".

So, why am I writing a blog?  I don't want to brag, but I will.  I have some great ideas.  I am pretty good at decorating and redecorating. I like making things and taking something old and making it beautiful. Hair, makeup and fashion... I have lots to share. I also have lots to say.  My family gets tired of listening to me...that's why I will blog!   I would love to share my life, ideas, photos and probably more than you want to know about me.  I think I have a gift of making people feel a little better about themselves..imagine that :) Hopefully we can laugh and if needed cry together. I would love to hear about you...when I am not talking about me.

I love this! We need more of these kinds of ads in my world!!
